Find out how to stretch the highest of an arch roof – Professional

Good morning! I’m including an arched metallic roof to a constructing I’m designing. The arch half was very straightforward. I drew an arch over the constructing, offset it 8″, closed within the ends, then extruded that face the size of the constructing. NOW, at every finish of the roof I need to pull the highest of the arch out 6’ to eight’ so as to add a little bit extra flare. Thats the place Im caught…Ive tried all the pieces I do know to do with no luck…Assist?

Relying on what you want you would possibly be capable to use the Scale instrument. Or it would simply be simpler to attract a brand new arch. If you happen to shared your SketchUp file so we are able to see what you’ve modeled and what you might want to do it might assist.

Not like what @DaveR reads in your textual content I might say:

  • extrude the ends on each facet 8’ further in size.
  • use a grouped slanted face (on all sides of the roof ends) that intersects the roof construction
  • apply ‘Intersect Faces with … choice after choosing all
  • delete face group and undesirable fundamental geometry
  • shut finish of slanted roof construction by drawing an edge over one phase

Thanks Dave, that might in all probability assist alot!! I’ll add the file shortly

GSD CURVE CANOPY EAST SIDE.skp (268.0 KB)

My design file is in Softplan however I used to be going to attract the roof in Sketchup (a lot simpler) and import it into Softplan. The opposite sketch above the constructing considerably reveals what I’m attempting to realize

So that you simply need to reduce the ends of the roof off on the angle proven within the instance above?

Hey Dan thanks for the reply! Thats positively one thing I can attempt too…thanks!! I dont have fairly sufficient expertise with Sketchup but to know what all choices can be found however I’ll get there some day

As @Wo3Dan indicated, draw a airplane by means of the roof on the required angle. Choose the geometry and use Intersect Faces. Then delete what isn’t wanted.
