Led by government artistic director Stephen Cocks, a compact design and movement crew at Elevation in Atlanta crafts a sprawling design system to model all 5 2023 conferences and award exhibits for Promax.
Stephen Cocks: “Creating this piece celebrating our friends world wide – a gaggle we all know has excessive expectations – was equally thrilling and daunting. Our artistic path was sparked by a quote from American author/artist/thinker Elbert Hubbard, ‘Artwork shouldn’t be a factor, it’s a means.’
“With AI artwork dominating current headlines, we’ve been asking ourselves quite a lot of questions concerning the nature of artwork. Is artwork outlined by the creator or the top outcome? Even with AI-generated pictures and textual content, artwork doesn’t simply exist. It ‘turns into’ from a means of studying, prompting, interplay and suggestions.

“Artwork occurs within the crafting section. It’s an exhilarating course that takes us on a journey of introspection, all fueled by a way of curiosity and a drive for betterment. To us, the celebration of that enter and collaborative back-and-forth was the center of what the Promax Awards commemorate. We got down to create designs that captured that inventive journey.
“Carried in all places from social graphics to the Awards open, we created visible metaphors which might be expressed by supplies, shapes, textures, and shade, equivalent to distortion to convey iterative metamorphosis or fluid clear glass to convey the overlap and unfold of concepts.
One of many greatest challenges lay in designing for 5 distinct Awards exhibits, every requiring distinctive but cohesive themes. With mild being one among our core design parts, we determined to distinguish every area’s design by mirroring the phenomenon of a prism refracting white mild into particular person colours.”
