The U.S. Air Power flew a remotely piloted plane geared up with an Indignant Kitten® ALQ-167 Digital Warfare Countermeasure Pod for the primary time on April 27, 2023. Common Atomics Aeronautical Methods, Inc. built-in the pod onto the plane.
The Indignant Kitten EW Pod is provided to the U.S. Air Power by the Georgia Tech Analysis Institute (GTRI) and has flown on different Division of Protection programs, together with F-16s. GA-ASI built-in the EW pod in lower than 9 months without charge to the U.S. Air Power through the use of a Cooperative Analysis and Improvement Settlement.
“It was nice to see the Indignant Kitten Pod on an Air Power platform for the primary time,” stated GA-ASI Vice President of DoD Strategic Improvement Patrick Shortsleeve. “Flying this EW functionality on an MQ-9A demonstrates its doable use on future plane.”
The Air Power plans to proceed flying with Indignant Kitten Pods over the following 12 to 24 months to develop the most effective Ways, Strategies, and Procedures (TTPs) to leverage EW capabilities in help of the Joint Power and companion nations.
