Can I lock high parallel view for engaged on ground plans (iPad app)? – SketchUp for iPad

I’m usually engaged on ground plans, the place high parallel view needs to be fixed. Utilizing SU for iPad it’s not attainable to give attention to high view whereas enhancing ground plans. Is there a trick to lock orbit?

There is no such thing as a option to lock orbit as SketchUp is a 3d modelling software program. Additionally it’s best observe to mannequin in perspective and go away parallel for output views. It is best to be capable to choose high view however i’m not accustomed to the interface of SketchUp for iPad…
You may then make a scene to have the ability to return to your high view with ease…

Thx @tweenulzeven for the reply. As I used to be anticipating; although, would admire seeing this function carried out by SU builders. To work on 2D ground plans on desktop is okay, however on iPad it’s form of disturbing fixed orbiting on any slight pencil contact. Simply wished to see if there are extra group customers seeing this as a difficulty; and if this generally is a function carried out sooner or later (i.e. disable orbit, or some form of 2D working mode).

Make a scene with the flat view. Then whereas engaged on it solely use zoom and pan.

Like ceaselessly! It’s such a easy, however oh so important function I’m nonetheless amazed it’s not a part of native SU Professional, not to mention the iPad model. SU diehards will predictably bounce in with “there’s no want for it, you have to keep in mind to blah blah to remain in that orientation”…however sure there’s a want for it. On the fly (utilizing zoom wheel click on to pan) you don’t need to have to consider that, as you don’t must in Rhino, AutoCAD, Revit and many others. Nobody can say it will be to the detriment of the SU (native and/or iPad) to have this tremendous fundamental, easy performance baked-in for use if/when required, or ignored by diehards. I’m positive it’d be straightforward to implement, so why it’s by no means been added (this omission being a purpose loads have been postpone by SU) is totally past me. It’s a very open objective, however ahhh Trimble …though I’m impressed by the iPad model. Not excellent, wants refinement and bit extra performance and customisability, however it’s an excellent begin.

NB: utilizing zoom wheel click on to pan is the way in which 95% of digital varieties pan round a drawing, be it 2D or 3D. Remembering so as to add Shift to pan, if you’re usually leaping between CAD apps it completely counterintuitive. That is the explanation why this easy performance needs to be baked-in with zero negatives. The silicone valley fudge right here of probably offering the flexibility to program/set center button click on performance to both pan or orbit would assist (as in most different 3D software program), however could be a fudge, and wouldn’t resolve the difficulty.

Easy straightforward resolution, extra completely satisfied individuals, nobody loses, bonus…so waddya say Trimble dwellers?..Possibilities?

Use a shortcut key to Pan and use the scroll wheel solely to zoom in and out, don’t contact the scroll wheel button.

You’re out on a limb there. I don’t know a single 3D-type who’d agree with that. It’s THE option to navigate (Spacemouse excepted) in 3D area, and has been for the reason that intro of the zoom wheel within the late 90’s. Therefore the necessity for this added fundamental (but basic) performance in SU.

After all. I take advantage of it on a regular basis. However the OP was asking about staying in “2D” plan view, and panning with the “orbit button+shift” fairly often leads to a slight orbit, no less than for me. Staying in “2D view” is mainly easy: Don’t contact the Orbit software.

More often than not I mannequin in Perspective view – after getting used to perspective, Parallel projection feels unnatural.

Thanks all for sharing together with your expertise. From my observe, desktop app works practically fantastic for 2D ground plans; however iPad app doesn’t in any respect (because of orbit wherever I contact the display screen). Anybody from the app dev group might give some perspective wether it can are available close to future? I usually touring, and iPad app gave me a terrific software to shortly draft some concepts for my tasks; I want it will be straightforward to work with ground plans too; on iPad

I’ve to agree, it’s comparatively easy to work in plan on desk or internet, however an axis lock would make life so a lot better on the ipad.
