With a mix of CG and macro cinematography, Paris inventive digital company I-réel expands its portfolio of luxurious product movies with this intimate and complicated work for venerable Swiss watchmaker Baume & Mercier.
From the group at I-reel: “The Riviera watch is impressed by the French Riviera temper: sea, solar, and the artwork of dwelling on the Côte d’Azur. As well as, every assortment of the model makes use of its personal design. Our goal for this movie was to hyperlink these two universes, one from the maritime world and the opposite astronomical, with completely different textures.
“This undertaking is totally post-produced in 4K decision. The Moonphase pictures have been shot with our RED 8K digital camera in our in-house studio, coupled with our motion-control robotic. CGI sequences have been created with 3ds Max and V-Ray.
“Our goal for this movie was to hyperlink these two universes, one from the maritime world and the opposite astronomical, with completely different textures.”
“The movie is split into 4 elements, the place every texture highlights a selected element of the watch. For the opening we created small pebbles, reminding us of the lunar floor, pushed again by an invisible object, emitting mild, and recalling the completely different moon phases.
“Within the second half, we concentrate on the dial, which is encircled by a skinny blue disc. Nearer, blue streaks stand for the motion of the waves. It took us a lot of experiments to create this texture, related to a ripple animation to signify the ocean. The rendering is of a refined softness, and the sunshine hangs completely on the perimeter waves.
“You’ll be able to’t speak in regards to the Riviera with out mentioning water. For this half, we created a clear outer dial however saved the indexes (the hour indication markers) in metal. Then we poured water into this cylinder. The thought was to see the liquid bouncing in that form and create a construction midway between an artwork set up and science fiction, the place gravity wouldn’t exist.”
