‘Ernest & Celestine 2’, ‘House of the Coronary heart’, ‘Architect A’ Win NYICFF Animation Prizes


Following the conclusion of its twenty sixth annual NYC occasion, New York Worldwide Kids’s Movie Competition (NYICFF) introduced its 2023 award winners. NYICFF is an Oscar qualifying movie pageant, and winners of NYICFF’s jury awards are eligible for consideration on the Academy Awards.

The 2023 jury included Kim Díaz (VP Inventive Improvement, Sesame Workshop), Kyle McLachlan (Emmy nominated actor, Twin Peaks), Hsiang Chin Moe (Chair of BFA Animation, Faculty of Visible Arts), Huda Razzak (NYICFF 2022 Jury Award-winning filmmaker, The Ocean Duck), Ira Sachs (director, Passages), Uma Thurman (Oscar-nominated actor, Kill Invoice Vol. 1 & 2), Nora Twomey (Oscar-nominated filmmaker, My Father’s Dragon) and Christine Vachon (CEO Killer Movies & award-winning producer, Boys Don’t Cry).

“What an extremely robust yr!” Twomey enthused. “So many lovely, heartwarming movies. The very fact all of them carry such emotional weight and are produced to such a excessive creative customary is so encouraging to see.”

The Grand Prizes for animation went to the function movie sequel Ernest & Celestine: A Journey to Gibberitia, which was chosen because the pageant’s opening evening movie, and Korean animator Johnhoon Lee’s colourful Architect A, about an industrious builder who constructs homes to match every occupant’s life, constructed on their reminiscences.

Sarah Saidan’s House of the Coronary heart received the Oscar-qualifying Jury Prize for animation. The piece is about an Iranian immigrant who’s attacked on the road in France however survives as a result of he has no bodily coronary heart — maybe it was left behind in his house nation?
