Santorini is without doubt one of the Cyclades islands within the Aegean Sea. It was devastated by a volcanic eruption within the sixteenth century BC, ceaselessly shaping its rugged panorama. The whitewashed, cubiform homes of its 2 principal cities, Fira and Oia, cling to cliffs above an underwater caldera (crater). They overlook the ocean, small islands to the west and seashores made up of black, crimson and white lava pebbles.
