This webinar will introduce some typical approaches for algorithmic modelling used within the design of Joris Laarman Studio’s merchandise, illustrating how they relate to their design philosophy and visible language. Particular focus will likely be positioned on the parametric strategies behind a number of large-scale 3D-printed metallic constructions produced by MX3D – a workflow the place sculptural logic meets mathematical one in a posh interaction between perform, aesthetics and fabrication constraints.

Boyan Mihaylov is a Computational Designer and CAD Specialist at Joris Laarman Studio. Coming from a background in Structure, he specialised in parametric modelling for digital fabrication throughout his initiatives with ICD on the College of Stuttgart. For the previous eight years, he has been offering experience on the digital implementation of advanced designs in numerous scales, continually looking out for modern computational options for design issues.
