Plugin for including Dynamic Elements attributes mechanically – Dynamic Elements

Hello, first time posting on the boards. I hope anyone has an answer to this downside.

For my work we use a whole lot of normal elements which have dynamic elements attributes so you possibly can choose the fixings required. For instance on a sure bracket we use a drop down record to pick out ‘M12 x50mm bolt’. We then use the ‘generate report’ characteristic to collate the full variety of bolts and so forth. required for the challenge.

The issue happens after we design bespoke brackets in Solidworks and import them as STLs. It takes an excessive amount of time so as to add dynamic part attributes manually to every one.

Is there a plugin or some ruby script to mass add a gaggle of attributes to a part simply? They might be the identical attributes each time.

It will be nice to listen to if somebody has an answer to this!

Thanks.

Thanks on your reply Simon. Your plugin is strictly what I used to be after! Thanks a lot for creating that.

Simply a few solutions/questions:

  • Would it not be doable to pick out all ‘favourite’ attributes to be able to add them in a single go, moderately than clicking add individually.? (I’ve received 10+ attributes so as to add)

  • Is it doable to avoid wasting favourite attributes so that they switch between skp fashions?

Thanks once more  !

Hi there Ivaaannnnnn

You must inform me a little bit extra in order that I may help you.

To work, the plugin wants elements to be chosen earlier than launching the plugin.
Has the plugin ever labored in your set up or is it bugged just for this session? This mannequin ? This part?

Model 3.2 doesn’t assist being put in in a folder aside from the usual SketchUp plugins folder. The following model will repair this

Sorry,

that is the primary operating of your extension. I simply put in it utilizing the Extension Supervisor.
Sure, I choose a part firstly, then push the part’s button.

For me it doesn’t work with any of elements.

I see you might be on MAC.
I couldn’t take a look at the plugin on this platform resulting from lack of {hardware}, however you’re the primary to report such a bug.

Are you able to do the next process:

  • Shut the plugin window
  • Open the Ruby Console
  • Previous the next code :
    SimJoubert::SJ_Add_DC_Attribute::SESSION[:showputs]=true
  • Choose your part
  • Launch the plugin
  • And ship me the textual content that’s displayed within the console
