GA-ASI Flies First M2DO MQ-9A Plane


On Nov. 10, 2022, Basic Atomics Aeronautical Programs, Inc. (GA-ASI) flew the primary manufacturing MQ-9A Multi-Area Operations (M2DO)-ready variant of the U.S. Air Drive MQ-9A Reaper. This upgraded model of the MQ-9A Block 5 remotely piloted plane, also referred to as a the “-25,” contains key options that may allow future integration and fielding of Open Mission Programs (OMS) in addition to new sensors that may additional develop the MQ-9A Reaper’s strategic reconnaissance capabilities. 

Options of the brand new “-25” embody improved energy distribution and redundancy, GPS enhancements, radar altimeters, nostril wheel steering, and angle of assault (AoA) sensor system enhancements.

The U.S. Air Drive and U.S. Marine Corps will each obtain these improved MQ-9A Block 5 “-25” M2DO-ready plane underneath present contracts; nonetheless, the overall variety of plane receiving these enhancements has not been launched.
