Ribbon-style mesh query (Blender) – Actual Time VFX

Heyo! Who doesn’t love power swirl throughout a ribbon-style mesh particle? Whereas I usually do all these meshes in Houdini, I fairly like Blender and was questioning if anybody is aware of workflow for creating the identical in that software program. That is my present (pretty desctructive) workflow in Blender:

  1. Create a curve for the ribbon profile (sometimes only a single line or an “X” on this case)
  2. Create a Bezier curve
  3. Use the “X-curve” as bevel object within the Bezier curve
  4. Convert the consequence right into a mesh to edit taper in direction of the tip

Sadly, changing from curve to mesh means dropping the curve controls and having to manually place the UVs, that are difficult to evenly house out when coping with curved shapes like these and UV projection. To not point out the repeated work I’d should do if I ever need to change the circulation of the curve.

If anybody has course of for this I’m all ears!
